Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of mixing two new songs in Dolby ATMOS for the artist People R Ugly and label Verswire. The tracks—“Better” and the newly released “Thinkin Bout You”—are rich with emotional detail, layered production, and a sonic aesthetic that really lends itself to immersive audio.
Both songs translated beautifully into the ATMOS realm, allowing for expanded spatial placement, textures, and a more dynamic, three-dimensional listening experience. The immersive mix for Better gave the vocals and guitar space to breathe while anchoring the rhythm section with powerful depth. In Thinkin Bout You, the layered synths and ambient tones came alive with spatial movement, wrapping the listener in sound and emotion.
So far, the response has been exciting—“Better” has surpassed 700,000 streams since its release in June, a testament to how well the mix resonates with listeners across platforms.
It’s always rewarding to work on music that pushes sonic boundaries, and these two tracks are great examples of how immersive mixing can elevate the emotional impact of a song.
